Ever felt like God gave someone else something you felt you deserved more than him or her? Ever felt like someone whose checkered past should disqualify her from getting anything good in life got something much better than you ever received? Ever asked God why He blessed someone else better than He blessed you? This Sunday, Jesus reminds us why we cannot turn a heavenly reward into a prosperity chase, and how our greed can damage relationships within the family of God.

1) How would you describe your prayers? What do you find yourself praying to God about? 2) What has God asked you to give up to follow Him? 3) How often do you feel envious or jealous of another person receiving something you wanted or getting away with a wrongful act? 4) Do you sometimes find yourself placing greater value in things other than God? 5) What does Christ guarantee for us? How does this change our desire for material things? How does this change envy and jealousy we have for others?
